Physiotherapy is the assessment, treatment and prevention of human movement disorders. It aims to restore normal function or minimise dysfunction and pain in adults and children, to enable them to achieve the highest possible level of independence and function. It also aims to prevent recurring injuries and dysfunction in the workplace, at home or during recreational activities.
Physiotherapists use skilled evaluation to determine a diagnosis, and hands on therapy such as mobilisation, manipulation, massage, dry needling and acupressure, combined with individually designed exercise programmes, sophisticated electrotherapy equipment and other modalities to relieve pain and assist healing and recovery.
Physiotherapists are first line practitioners, which means that you do not need to be referred by a doctor or specialist.
If you have been referred, remember to bring along any scans or X-rays and your referral letter.
The duration of your first consultation is 1 hour. During this time, we will conduct a full assessment and treatment. Treatment options will be considered and discussed.
Follow up sessions are approximately 45 minutes and will be made up of hands on treatment, electrotherapy and rehabilitation exercises as needed on an individual basis
We are contracted in to most South African Medical Aids and can submit on your behalf. Alternatively card facilities are available at the practice.
